| 1. | Cut the onions in half lengthwise from stem end to root end.

| 2. | Rounded at the top, tapering at the stem end of the leaf.

| 3. | Trim off the tough stem ends, scraping leafy parts off the stems.

| 4. | Pull off stem ends and shake to remove most of the seeds.

| 5. | Trim the stem ends of the beans, leaving the pointed ends intact.

| 6. | Remove stems and insert wooden skewers into stem end of each apple.

| 7. | When you need onion rings, peel and slice from the stem end.
|
| 8. | Select 8 uniformly sized strawberries for dipping; cut in half through stem ends.

| 9. | Remove the stem ends, but don't bother with the thin tail.
|
| 10. | Slice about 1 / 4 inch off stem end of eggplant and discard.
